im still tryin to figure this out...

Say im WOT on the interstate and pull my foot off the throttle... my boost gauge goes instantly to 20inHg... i would think that it would take a second to bleed off the pressure...

i guess im wrong???

As soon as you let off it will go into vacume. The wave of pressure slam's into the TB and instantaneous goes back the other way. High pressure will always find low pressure to equalize and in this case it will go back out the turbo which is free spinning. Happens real fast.

Just let out of the throttle slowly, it won't have the pronounced effect you are hearing when you slam the throttle shut.
After I put a long intake tube on my STS kit, the compressor surge sound is barely noticeable now.
The shorter your intake on the turbo the more you will hear the sound, a BOV will reduce the sound slightly but will not get rid of it.

Listen to my old videos and tell me if this is the sound your hearing, right after I get out of the gas.

Different turbos and other variables make them all sound a little different I'll bet.
Maybe even what waste gate your running has an effect on the surge sound too??
