Default Turbo Surging???

I was told by a fellow member that i had turbo surging...
I kindof understand what it is.
But can someone shed a little more light as to how to cure this "Problem"?

And a BOV acctually doesnt fix it it just helps it..

Im sick of spending money on this turd, and just want to get it right.

Any help will be appreciated.

But my STS kit only has a Wastegate.
Where do i go from here?

Like always,, thanks guys!!!!!

When running low boost (i.e. 6 lbs or less) are BOV mandatory? I imagine STS would supply a BOV in the kit but since they didn't I'm wondering at what point do BOV become a requirment. I've heard of silicone connectors popping off, and even IC getting damaged by the sudden increase in pressure when the TB closes but I've heard of those happening in the ricer crowd where they are running 30 lbs and when they close the TB there is a sudden 50psi of pressure in their system. My STS came with a BOV but I told them I'd be boosting pretty high...??

My sts surged with a mail order tune, but my street tuner corrected it in minutes with tuning...Thanks Matt. Anyhow, I am not sure what he changed as I was driving and he was tuning. Best of luck to you

I don't know if that's possible. Then again I don't know exactly what he did but from my basic understanding you can't tune out or calibrate a overpressuring of the charge pipes in the system when the TB is closed. I'm not disagreeing, maybe it can be done I don't know but I just don't understand how it could be done.
Is your tuner Matt on the forum? I'd really like to understand what he was able to do to prevent surging.

I don't know the cause of the surging, I just know it was bucking or surging under boost and he tuned it on the fly in minutes. He is "hrodgmc" on here.

You don't need a BOV with an automatic unless you are running high boost.

Jose is the only guy I've heard say that the surge is a bad thing at all times. I ran mine with out a BOV for years. I think Slowhawk posted up in the other thread that he runs 20+psi with no BOV.

Don't get a case of internet panic

Compressor surge can't be tuned out and it isn't something you feel at all.

This is something else. Compressor surge is the chattering sound you hear when you close the throttle really quick and the turbo is still spinning fast enough to build pressure, but since the throttle is closed there is nowhere for it to go except back through the turbo.

Ok, kool, that's what I figured. I can see how it's not as important at 6 psi but I'm wondering, is Slowhawk using his truck on the street? At a track I can see how it isn't all that important since with the auto the shift are so quick and after your pull your not getting back on it right away. On the street you loose alot of spool time I would imagine and add a little lag time with the nature of street driving.
Anyways, I guess Noonie is safe for now. Too bad STS doesn't chatter up on the forums, could tell us why a BOV doesn't come with all kits.
I'll ask turbo 6.0, maybe he can tell us.

My blow off valve sounds like a rattle snake when I let off the gas. Im pretty sure that is normal though.
