Go procharger! Easy install, good on gas and the power is always there so there's no waiting for it to spool. I pull my toys up hills all day in over drive

Guess how I ended up here?
With a search.

I just bought a 2010 silverado and did a search for SC or turbo.

Don't be so quick to say things like that for threads. Online forums are how most guys learn to DIY, make repairs, and make choices. Even if it is an older car/truck.

In my case, I bought a 7 year old truck. One owner. 5.3L. Almost every option. A SC today is 25% of what I paid for the truck. I have a big shop, a lift, most of the tools needed, but I want opinions from people that have already bit the bullet on these.

I had a rear mount so not the same animal exactly but I loved it and it ran damn good for being stock suspension on 20's, no straps. My 14 I decided to do a PD blower for the torque day to day. My turbo I drove daily with the truck empty. Blower truck I knew would stay loaded with 800-900 lbs of tools so no brainer IMO. Blower has been trouble free. Turbo can be very reliable but not 100% trouble free like the blower has been and is fairly close to as fast. Turbo ultimately has way more power potential. Hope this helps. Welcome!

Just returned from a 10,000 mile road trip, Alaska to Texas, and back. Grand Canyon, SantaFe, Yosemite. Lots of mountain passes over 9000 feet, and 85 mph high speed, high temp across the desert, never saw IAT go over 111 F.
TVS1900 on a 4.8 ran great all the time, never even got the oil dirty.
Fuel economy did suck horribly though, we average 11.8 miles per gallon, 3.73 gears were way to tall for 34 inch tires.
Going to put in 4.56 gears soon, expect fuel economy to improve ( slightly ), with lower manifold pressure, higher cruise RPM.
I would like to be able to get solid 13 miles per gallon.

I wouldn't expect it to improve much with those gears, if at all. You'll want to look at delaying power enrichment if you want to get fuel economy while boosted. It's possible to improve fuel economy with boost, especially with a cam that has a later intake valve closing angle than the OE cam. It's called the Miller cycle if you want to look it up.

PE enables at 100KPa, and 45% TPS
cruise AFR are steady 14.7 on flat ground, or light accel.
drops into 12.5 quick on hills, or passing and then down to 11.8- 12.0 above 4000 rpm.
problem with 3.73 gears is cruise rpm is very low, spend a lot of time in 3rd gear in hill country.
My thinking is that 4.56 gears are 20% lower than 3.73, where 4th gear OD is 30% taller.
4.56 gears should split the difference between my current 3rd and 4th gears. put my cruise rpm right in the 1900 to 2300 rpm sweet spot in overdrive.

Give the PE changes a shot. It's free...gears cost money
