Default turbo oil system

ok got a question about a oil system idea. ok you have your turbo then a small oil filter (oil filter relocator) then a small tank maybe a quart, a oil cooler, last but not least a pump. ok if you put it in this order: tank, turbo pump, filter, cooler, and back to tank would that work if you worked it like a radiator and filled it completely full while pump and turbo running to kinda pressurize the system so there is no bubbles from comming out of the turbo. or would you need to pumps one to pump it to the turbo and one back out?
hope this makes since

So you mean an independent oil system for the turbo right? I am sure this would work but would require 2 pumps one to and one from the turbo. Getting the pressure from the motor is superior in my opinion because if you lose oil pressure in the motor the pcm will shut the motor off anyway. Plus, you have a much larger volume of oil (5-6 quarts) to pull from with the option to add an oil cooler very easily using nice neat factory lines/parts. Minimum points of failure is the name of the game IMO. As far as your tank (sump) is concerned, that would be of value before the turbo so the oil could receed back into it after the motor was shut off and not pool in the turbo but I plan to use a simple cheap check valve instead. Its a proven design and not as dangerous as a quart of oil in a makeshift container sitting under your truck at 70+ mph

I am gathering parts right now for my DIY rear mount. Got the turbo, wastegate, pump and intercooler. Just gathering the small stuff now...Gonna start when it cools down a bit out there, hot weather and frustration dont mix well

Reservoirs right under the turbo are fairly common. You could probably find one that fits your T4. They're used in almost all "low mount" turbo applications, where the turbo sits lower than the oil pan. As for the pump, Speedway Engineering sells an electric oil pump that'll probably handle the task. STS's pump is probably similar, but I don't how much they charge for the damn thing. I think you'll need a lot more than one court though.

The reason why this isn't common place, is that with using the engine's oil, not only is there pressure based of rpm like the MrXerox said, but you have 6 quarts of oil in the system which is a greater volume to heat up than 1 quart. To put it another way, if you put two pots on the same stove, one with 1quart and the other with 6. Which one will boil first? Sure you could run another 6 quart setup, but why, you're going to have to change 12 quarts of oil every 2000 miles.

Plus there's the potential for a lot of heat loss through the lines to the engine. Think aluminum.

well actually there would be more than just one quart becouse i was going to put the oil cooler up front so with the lines cooler and all it would be alot of oil. but i'll prolly do it the other way. the only reason i was going to maybe think about the rear mount was becouse my truck is four wheel drive and i would like to use it that way so what i was thinking was mounting the turbo in the bed at the front right hand side in that corner then i could still get my quad in there and i was thinking about building a small box to go around it with the filter comeing out of the box then if i really wanted to go play hard i could just make a longer pipe that went higher like a snorkel and could go through all the water i wanted to. plus it would save me a ton of money by not having to buy the manifolds for the front. i can't ever seem to make up my mind.

Sounds like an interesting setup, but mounting it in the bed seems logical. Esepecially for offroad guys that play in the water.

I plan on mounting something else for the turbo in the bed.

yeah the filter i think i'm just gonna do that instead becouse there will be more to many damn holes if i mount it in the bed so i'm just gonna mount it under there then put a filter in the bed with a box for it. so where exactly does the turbo sit on the sts kit is it up by the front right hand side in front of the wheel well area?
