An S480 is an 80mm compressor inducer, the turbine varies, typically a S480 has a turbine inducer that’s 96mm,92mm or 87mm. An 96mm turbine is 96mm inducer and 88mm exducer. For example I have the following.

S480/92 1.25 T6 80mm compressor/92mm turbine inducer/ 1.25 AR Housing/ T6 flange.
S485/96 1.32 T6 85mm compressor/96mm turbine inducer/1.32 AR Housing / T6 flange.

on a compressor the inducer is what you see, think compressor inducer is air in, compressor exducer is air out.
On a turbine the inducer is where the hot exhaust gas hits first and the exducer is the part of the turbine wheel closest to the downpipe.

 

so what do you guys recommend as far as the turbo/pistons?

 

Stock pistons and something in the 76/75 or 78/75 range. For your goals you don’t need a S400 frame.
