Default Turbo Help

Ok here we go, I rebuilt the 6.0 that was in the truck but before it broke a ring land on one piston I had it setup for 8lbs and it ran great, now with the rebuilt motor I put it back together and I went to go get it retuned with 10lbs and the boost is off the chart I had it set for 7lbs on the wastegate and now it goes to 12-14lbs I check and double checked everything that I can think of but I can't figure it out, I took the wastegate off to see what seat I had in there and it is the biddest one I have, Any suggestion, It is driving me crazy Thanks

Tune it for 14 psi.

You can try pulling the spring out of the gate and also make sure the hoses are all good.

How are you measuring your boost? How do you know that this isn't what killed your last engine? What kind of wastegate are you running and do you have a boost controller?

On another note, have you broken the engine in well before boosting it? I have no experience here personally, but I would want to make extra sure my rings have seated well before pressurizing the cylinders.

Yea all the hoses are good, and I have a boost gauge and by the map sensor, On the last motor I had a fuel issue which is taken care of. But the more I think about it I am going to look at where the wastegate is piped back into the exhaust that is the one thing I did change, Maybe it is getting a restriction and not letting the boost blow by. I'm thinking, As for the motor it has maybe 200-250miles on it

If you can get me a picture i can prolly help ya out, if you relocated the wastegate and its the only thing you did its more than liklely the problem... I relocated the wastegate to the log manifold and minimum boost i could run was 14-15 lbs and had more creep in higher rpms, if its located on the cross over it should be able to get out the proper amount of exhaust by bleeding the drivers side exhaust off before the log manifold... Hope this helps

I think it's interesting that putting the WG where "everyone" says it should be you had boost creep and putting in the the crossover where "everyone" says it WON'T work, fixed it, lol.
