I am unfamiliar with whipples. you would be best to call them and see what they offer for a gen 1 small block. If you have any more questions you can pm me or start another thread on the topic. You need to be a little more specific on what you mean- will it work.

I'm not that familiar with your truck.....an STS type mount..or under the hood? Seems strange that about the lag with the small housing and 370....I would have thought different.

Its under hood mount. I made it all myself. Still working on some problems, so keeping sort of quiet until i get bugs worked out so i can get dyno numbers.

It had a 1.15 housing on it with the lag not the .81. I havent got it running again with the smaller housing as i just picked it up. Im looking for a .96 too, but might just step to a bigger turbo alltogether

Now I just need recommendations on a boost controler, wastegate, and blowoff valve.
so how does this one http://store.yahoo.com/cheapturbo/garrettt4to4r.html compare to the one you bought or any others for that matter. i think i got the p trim i bought it for the 4.8 but i just put in the 5.7 so will it still be ok?
and i think its the .70 a/r i think i'll have to check again

You have a forged 370 then??? If so you will be looking for a bigger unit in the future. The new borg warner switzer units S76, 78, 80, 88. They flow like crazy. Wil lbe doing a S78 pretty soon here.

I am interested in hearing your results witht the smaller housing......and the .96 as well. I was looking at the same turbo with the .96 and have a 6 litre....so our results should be pretty similar, although I am not interested in changing the cam at this time.

Ok, since this is my thread and I'm intitled to ***** it up, how about some cam recomendations. I'm wanting to stay somewhere in the 220-224* range on the intake side. Maybe less, maybe more. Just really depends on what I can find off the shelf or used if someone has something. I'm not against going with a custom grind. You all know basically my specs. I'd say the exhaust pluming going to the turbo will be moderately restrictive, nothing race quality. I'm not really familiar with what is out there for these gen3 engines off the shelf. Just looking if someone's got something off the top of their head in mind. I'm not asking you all to do my homework for me. Thanks.

Edit: I just remember the truck cam thread . If you still would like to add please do so.

Wow! That search button thingy up there works wonders. It appears people havn't talked much about turbo cams in the last 6 months.

I've sent in a cam request to Cam Motion so we will see what they say. I'm leaning torward something in the 223/220 114 range.

I am pretty sure that Magnacharger has made an intake blower combo that fits the Vortec heads of the 350 HO, its just like the Radix setup the NBS trucj guys are running, its the Gen 1-E Magnacharger.

Here it is, http://magnacharger.com/pr010.htm

That would bolt in to any 1996-2000 Vortec 305 or 350 truck. The Vortec PCM can drive any high impedance injector, I am running 28 lb/hr injectors in my 1997 Vortec 350 truck right now.

What are you putting teh 350 330 hp HO engine into??

peace
