Rick's right, the cost will increase faster than you realize but... if your set on getting a turbo you need to decide what's more important to you, it's either size, lag or 1/4 mile times but not all three at the same time. Choosing 1/4 mile times as most important will decide the size and lag you'll see. Picking lag as most important will determine the turbo size and 1/4mile times you'll get and ditto on picking a size although I can't understand why you'd pick size as important. You can bolt on a stock STS kit which they'll most likely recomment a 67 or even a 60-1 give you an A/R housing to match and you'll be on your way to those times, bought and installed for around $8,000. Not sure if that's the kind of cheap you were thinking but that's the most basic kit and cheap as it gets and you can run 8 psi without having to change any engine internals.

You might be able to do it for cheaper if you buy KB's kit and pick your own specs but your still looking at 6-7 grand when it' all done and paid for.

After three different FI setups I promise it aint cheap! You cant go wrong with Trick, KBracing96, or STS with the turbo setup. The Z06 cam is a proven FI cam, may not be the best but is a cheap alternative. My advise is do alot of research into what you want and how you want it then spend your money cause when you do it three times its six times as expensive!

Shop around and it can happen for you. My set up:

used sts kit..............2300
injectors....................250
tune.........................300
fuel pump...................110lc1 and gauges............300
ebay intercooler&pipe....250
exhaust......................free fabbed with junk parts
vette type servo............18
pipe wrap......................60
lq4 swap.......................800 Low price cause I sold the 4.8

4388.00 and I drive it everyday. lq4 with a 60-1 turbo = What lag
BTW, I turn my own wrenches. I thought I'd post this because if I had took advice from some people that say you have to have 10k to be FI...I would have missed out on alot of fun.

Notice: I didn't say the "R" word.

werd. the people that spend all the crazy money on turbo setups, buy the most expensive, brand new parts at full retail, and pay a shop to do all the work.

Run 6 psi with a bone stock motor down to the factory cam. Upgrade the valve springs to 918s. No intercooler will be needed at 6 psi. You will need injectors and a fuel pump. A t-60 will meet your goals and spool fast even with a stock tq converter. 14s will be easy. I used a STS kit with a t-67, 2600 stall and no I/C and ran 13.1x at 109 mph.

Everything stated here is soo true.
You get 5-6psi, it will be just enough to make you happy for a short time, then the interesting stuff will start to happen,
Broken or slipping parts, oil puking engine, need for more fuel to be safe, more fuel = more boost capable which = more heat, intercooler needed, fuel and temps taken care of = more boost and more broken parts.
The mad cycle will begin and consume you.

Set your goal, stick to it, research it, don't fool yourself.

We Need to rename the Forced Induction section
"Money Sucking Vortex from HELL"

any other ideas???

I run 235/75/16 tires. They are like a drivetrain fuse. Nothing else blows cause when I pour on to much power they start the smoke show. hey, it works!!! I have been at stock the boost setting for over a year, but I'm old .
