Just an update. Fuel pump went bad somehow. Went ahead and swapped in a Walbro 450. Fuel pressure is holding solid. Also bought HP Tuners Pro and Atomic has been doing an amazing job of getting my tune dialed in. This has been working out well due to my lack of time to meet up with local tuners. There is an issue right now with a lean spike after PE. There are a couple threads on HPTuners forum about a fix with beta called "Desoot" mode.
Next step is to install a flex fuel sensor and go from there!
Following, interested in the 450 swap info, as well.
Alright guys. Sorry, I haven’t been on here in a while.
The Walbro 450 has been running great. I’ll post some pictures below. I basically did a Venturi style setup, don’t mind the redneck zip tie method, i was in a bind. It runs great all the way to E. I just don’t do any significant pulls from less than 1/8 tank.
The truck is running on 7 psi still but with a flex fuel sensor. I was running E-85 for a while which made a very noticeable difference in the performance. The truck has been running great and just drove it from CA to TX and we just drove it to GA for the holidays. It has been getting about 17 mpg on the highway on gas and around 8 mpg city on E-85 (HA!)
The only other new part is the driveshaft. I blew it doing a highway pull so i upgraded to a Texas Driveshaft Specialists 2-piece.
Im at 16 psi and dual nozzle meth. Where are you at man? Went 11.7 at 117.
630 hp 630 tq
also give us the quick run down of the 450 swap.
Hey man. Still way behind you! I’m still running 7 psi. I want to do gears and locker before i keep turning it up. I’m worried about exploding my G80 and breaking everything else. I get nervous everytime i do a dig.
i'm not sweating it until i have too. stock rear axle and rocking over here.
Nice job on the pump. Does it move much with out the bottom attached? Maybe some fuel cell foam to keep it more solid?
what is your FP at cold start, warm idle and WOT? You only swapped pumps right? stock lines, connections, rails, etc..
It doesn’t move around much. I think it might be at a slight angle when the hat is pushed down but i didn’t sweat it.
Fuel pressure is set at 58 and doesn’t move at all. My fuel rail mounted pressure sensor reads differently than the PCM after running for a while. I think i have a heak soak issue with the sending unit or it is not ethanol compatible.
Interesting but im not shocked. Is your truck FPCM equipped? Im guessing not because its not an OEM Flex truck. Im still poundering the idea of swapping my stock flex pump with a 450 and seeing what happens. Currently, cold start and WOT the FP would increase to 58 psi. idle and cruising would stay at 43psi.

Yea you can set it up like that in the tune but Atomic said he liked it at 58. I am sure it doesn’t make much difference.

It just snaps back on the side of the bucket. Stock setup.
