It seems that everyone is very happy with their turbo setups, which ever way they went. I have a 96 Bayliner Capri Classic V-hull Boat with a Mercruiser 5.0 in it. It is almost a new motor, the old one crapped out and we got this one with like couple hundred hours on it or something, anyways, it runs strong for what it is.
I was wondering if it would be sensable to turbo the 5.0? And if anyone knows alot about boat, how hard would this be to do? Current top speed is about 54-58mph

I'm very very sad to say, A supercharger would be way easier on this application.. Unless you don't need to cool the exhaust. Your top speed it pretty damn good for the 5.0.. Alph I outdrive?

Not to **** on your parade, but that boat isn't running 55mpg with a 305 in there.. It might say that on the speedo in the dash but not a GPS. You will need a solid 410 hp to get close to that in that boat.
A blower would be the simplest way to go.. I would put a built motor in there

The old motor would do about 43 when the speedo worked, and the motor we got was from a performance shop, they replaced the 5.0 it with an LS1 in there boat. Wish I'd got to see it run, but I don't know exactly what is done to the new motor.

When I was looking into this same idea for my boat, I figured I'd want the Bravo. I'll have to double check when I get to work tomorrow...
