Top or bottom of the pan? I think I'll just do the timing chain instead, oil pan seems like a pain to take off.

What truck? 2wd or 4wd? On mine, NNBS 2wd, dropping the pan and putting it back in, I probably had about 4 hours into it.

You will want to do it high on the oil pan. If doing the cover, make it as low as possible, also be conscious of the belt and accessories when picking a location. A search on here or tech will bring up some pictures for you.

Well calling it another night. Finally got that head off that was stuck to the block, new cam is in and everything. I couldn't install the new valve springs because of that cheap as tool I bough on o'Reilly's for $5. I'll try to get the remaining parts tomorrow for the head studs thread lock, drill bit and tap.

I did mine w the pan on. Two oil changes shortly after and it's been 3 months w no problems. I have 4x4 , otherwise I woulda dropped it
