I know it is not recomended to tow with a turbo, but.......
I can not get my EGT to stay down when pulling a hill. The truck pulls great and has a ton of power but with my EGT at 1600 deg, I have to let out of it. How do the guys towing with turbos do it?
One of my guesses is the lack of step hills in the east, and I know the tune will effect the temps as well. Jerry any ideas?
I'm pulling a single axle boat (3220 dry), and I dont build boost while towing. thanks for any inputs/ideas.

They run much colder (exhaust anyway) more fuel means more heat for a diesel.
Thanks for the heads up bud8fan

Sorry I cannot help with your towing ? . I have towed our horse trailer at 4400 lbs. a couple of times but did not take any readings and I do not have an EGT probe. It really didn't seem to be a problem to me but I did not go far or have to climb any of the bigger hills we do have near here.

myself when i had my turbo and towed i hardly ever went into boost because of it being flat land down here on the coast so i never had a problem towing anything...

When I was towing I kept it out of boost the whole time. but my EGTs where scary, 1500 deg I'd let off, shift into third, and cruz up the hill at 45 mph. lol, the truck has the power. I just don't dare use it.
Thanks for the info Mort. Every time someone asks me how much power it makes, I hate telling them, but after I do tell them 305 hp they are more willing to race. after X-mas it will be heading to a new dyno.
