which torque converter with sts

#1 What turbo do you have?
#2 What cam?
#3 When do you seem to hit full boost?
#4 Have you dyno'd it and do you have the sheet you can post for us?
#5 Is the truck a 2wd or 4wd?
#6 1500 series or 2500 series?
#7 Have you ever driving a vehicle with a high stall converter and if so how tolerant are you of poor drivability?
Gotta know more about your truck and setup before I could give you a good answer. I can say that it is an excellent mod for the STS turbo and you're ET can improve DRAMATICALLY if you size the converter correctly

A Yank 3000 stall would work great with that setup BUT you need to make sure they build it for YOUR truck and not some off-the-shelf TT3000 that is designed for a stock or bolt-on truck. You make too much TQ t use one of those and would end up with a 3500 stall or something similar lol.
To take full advantage of the turbo you will need a set of slicks or cheater slicks (ET Streets, Hoosier QTPs etc). Fo rbest results you wil have to spool it up before launching at the track. If you do all that you'll have one hell of a quick truck on your hands. Dont do any of that and you're better off sticking to Supra-Style racing.... IE from a roll......

You'll get MUCH faster if you get the converter and slicks and follow the turbo guys advice for sure
You shouldnt need to retune much with the converter BUT they can change your efficiency so if you can afford it I'd wait until you get the converter to do the full tune unless you are running on a dangerous tune right now.
You dont have enough stall to really build up boost right now so I would wait till you get the converter and slicks and then repost asking so it'll be fresh in your mind when you try it out

And what's wrong with that? I think I drive the world's biggest and heaviest Supra.
