Default Too Much Pressure??

I've noticed that there is some oil that seems to be coming from the back of the block and possibly the back of the valley cover. I replaced the gasket/seal and the same thing happened again. I've got a vent running to a catch can from the driver's side valve cover. Any ideas on what could be causing this?? Mods are iron 5.3 bored to 346, forged pistons with 317 heads, Vic Jr., the rest is in my sig. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are you running a crankcase filter on one of the valve covers because if not it will cause that too much pressure in crankcase causes iol leaks!

Are you sure the PVC line going to the valve cover on the driver side has a check valve in it.

I already replaced the rear main just in case it was leaking. The line running from the DS valve cover to the catch can is just a straight vent with no check valve. I had been told to just run 2 hoses, one from each valve cover and just vent them to the atmosphere, but there was oil coming out of them as well.

you didn't oil the rear main seal when you installed it did you? it needs to be installed dry. i hooked my passenger side valve cover to the turbo inlet so it has some vacuum under boost.

Nope, specs say to install dry and that's how I did it. I'm not even sure it was leaking from there the first time I replaced it. I think the oil was leaking down the back of the block and just got all over everything including the rear main. It's enough to make a mess on the starter, flywheel, oil pan, bell housing and crossmember.

I've got the STS set up otherwise I would run my catch can set up the same as you. DS valve cover to Ccan, Ccan to intake, PS valve cover to turbo, I don't have a way to tap in before the turbo. Suggestions??

well that sucks. do you not have the sts pcv vent solenoid thing? if you have both valve covers vented i don't see why it would be puking that much oil unless there is alot of blow by. 11psi is not a lot i don't think as far as pcv goes. did you replace the gasket on the valley cover? i think it was what you said but i'm not sure if i'm reading it correctly.

but that don't make since of why the valve cover vent have oil coming out them.

I don't have the STS PCV system anymore since I'm running the Vic Jr. I did replace the gasket on the valley cover but I'm not 100% sure that's where the oil is coming from. I think the reason that the oil was coming out of the PS valve cover is because the oil return line from the turbo is going into the oil filler cap and I think it's causing a little bit of "pressure" causing it to puke a little. When I had breathers coming off of both valve covers, there was only a little bit coming out of the passenger side breather. The DS seemed to be ok.

I wouldn't think 11 psi would be bad too bad. Plus, I'm supposed to be going for a retune in about a week so I can up the boost to 14 or so !!
