Default Thinking of switching to ATI or possibly Turbo?

Here's my mods as of now.
99 Silverado Ex-Cab. 5.3, Whipplecharged 8lbs, Open K&N on a 80mm BBK TB, 42lb injectors, 1.7 roller rockers, Doug Thorley Tri-Y's, 180 stat, 212/221 .510/.510 114LSA, 2400rpm stall, 2.5" duals w/ flowmasters.

Had Westers do a tune and it must be way off because its flat until 4,500 and then pulls like crazy. I want 13's out of the truck and don't know if this will be able to pull it off after I'd get it dynotuned. I'm thinking of either going to an ATI Procharger or possibly a turbo kit sometime this winter. What would you guys recommend and what kind of power should my truck have now?
Should I do larger cam also? Different heads? Build a better lower end? I'm new to this game and need help. Other good threads to link me to?

I may have my ATI up for sale soon. D1 with a 10 lb pulley on a stock motor with just a catback(stock y and cats) and the junk ATI intercooler made 380rwhp. I put a much larger intercooler on it which the guy who did the tune said was desperatly needed. I would expect with your mods already you should easily see over 450 rwhp, I would bet that with the bigger intercooler and e-fans added I was making easily over 400. I ran some mid 13's on the G-tech which was usually within 2/10th's of actual track times, and that is with a 5600 lb weight.

All that being said, turbo will make more power by a good amount. I think the Livernois kit is probaly the best power-for-dollar kit out, and I dont like the STS sitting under the truck on a daily driver(especially in the midwest).

What kind of power are you making now? Any track times?

BTW, what kind of cam is that?

Been driving my STS since January with no issues as far as WATER SUCKING or muddy filter. I live in Wisconsin too.

I got a Westers tune for it and its way off, feels flat until 4,500 and then goes like hell. I never got a chance to get it dynotuned, so I don't know what I exactly have or could have. Its a crane cam, custom grind for blower apps. Intercooler would be really nice to have and with whipple you can't have one.

I have heard a few stories about draining intercoolers and the like. That would be my main complaint. Plus guys talk about better power when the turbo heats up, and that isnt as much an issue with a front mount.

I have only heard one story around here.

As for the heat, are you refering to the exhaust gas or the turbo itself?

Turbo temp. I have heard a few guys say that their STS makes more power when the turbo is hotter.
Dont get me wrong, I am not a STS hater, I just prefer the front mount better. I would probably do an STS on a weekend driver/ 2nd vehicle just because of ease and cost.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with that too. The clearances between the turbines and the housings are designed to operate best a certain temp. Beleive me though, the rear mount will get to that temp, it'll just take a little longer.

I thought you were talking about exhaust gas temp. I was thinking, "uh-oh here we go again."

Anyway back on topic, I think you could easily get 13's out of your truck with that wipple. I bet you find a lot more power buried in the tuning. Although you'll need an IC or alky injection if you want to up the boost more.
