If you drive the truck around much I'd look into a TVS2300 and spray a 150 shot on it. If you set the blower up for around 12psi where it seems to be at it's best you should be able to pull off 600-650RWHP and spray a 150 shot at it to get to 800RWHP. All of that with off idle boost allowing you to run a 2800-3200 stall and still launch like an animal. 10.5:1-11:1 compression is where you'll want to run the compression for best power. It may be a good time to go to L92 heads. If most of your use for the truck is playing and racing I'd no doubt go with a turbo and a big one at that. Something around 88mm or bigger. That would get you into the 10's and probably even on pump gas.

Ok, I think my mind is made up. Turbo FTW. Planning on an 88mm single turbo probably trick, with small custom cam and the vic jr intake. For heads I will be using stock 317s and just turn up the boost to compensate for not being ported. I already have the twin intank pumps and will start with 60lb injectors and upgrade later when they max out. Any advice or am I on the right track?

you do not HAVE to run 12 psi on the 2300. We run the 2300 @ 7 psi on the Camaro, Vette, and GXP and make plenty of power. I am running the 1900 @ 8 psi and it is the best daily driver I have ever had.

Of course you don't have to run 12psi, there is no specific number you have to run. He's looking for 700RWHP as he said in his first post. With a 4L80E trans he's likely going to want more than 7-8psi. I'm all for the lower boost and agree with you that 8psi is about the perfect number for a daily driver. If you look at his build he's running a fairly agressive 408 for a driver and has ran a rather large cam at one point and if I recall a 200 shot. My opinion/recomendation was just based on what I've seen from his setup and goals in the past. He's running a forged motor that like Ray's truck as an example shouldn't have a problem with 12psi on 91-92 octane. With the efficiency and lower IAT's from the 2300 it's easier to run the higher boost levels and still drive it every day.

I saw that cometic has .071, .060 and .051 compressed head gasket thickness. That gives me choices of 10.3, 9.8, or 9.4 compression. Should I go the lowest and turn up the boost or go in the middle and keep it mild?
