Default Tensioner with Whipple

I have a Whipple mounted on a LQ4 with truck accessories. ATI 7% OD Damper and 3.25 pulley.

Looks like my tensioner needs replacement as it appears out of alignment with the rest of my pulleys. Car has not ran yet but getting close...

Do they make an upgrade to this tensioner? (6 rib unit). If so, what part number and where can I purchase? Or should I throw another stocker on there?

Post up a picture of your setup so we can see what you are working with.

Nice ride!

I have had my 6-rib Whipple setup on my 2000 Z71 truck for 8 years and 85k miles using the stock tensioner and never had any issues. I guess when/if it craps out I will get another OEM tensioner as well. I have never seen any upgraded parts but that means nothing.

YMMV but that is my .02. Good luck, that looks like fun!

Yeah, I am leaning towards a new stock unit. I was hoping to get a few options for an upgrade if available for a marginal amount more.

I found Janety Racing online who sells a nice tensioner but it is over $300.

We shall see!

Any "guesstimates" on RWHP/RWTQ? Keep in mind Ford 9" and 4L80E. Hoping for 550...but really want it to run low 10's regardless of the numbers.

3.250 upper pulley ~11 lbs
102mm TB w/ 5" intake tube (subway tunnel)

It almost looks like a HD tensioner would work on that bracket. Is that a whipple bracket that the idler and tensioner mount to? It looks very close to my Magnacharger bracket.

Yessir..the tensioner mounts to the bracket and it is the one that is supplied with the Whipple kit.

Do you have a part number for the HD tensioner and source?

Thx.

Saw this one at East Coast Supercharging but, it specifically says it will NOT work with Whipple kits.

Same with this one from Jannetty Racing.
