I have the STS kit on my 04 z71 tahoe.

I made the 5.3 a ticking time bomb and seeing metal in the oil.

My Question to this forum:

What junkyard motor would you swap in it and price to expect to pay?

My plan is to just look for another 5.3 to properly work with the 4l60e, but i was open to 4.8 or 6.0. Best bang for your buck. im currently making around 457whp & 522tq on 33.5 tires.

Nothing wrong with a 5.3 but I would try to pick up a 6.0 since its in a Tahoe. Probably around 1500. You can look on car-parts.com. Out of boost power would be far superior and you may as well spend the extra few hundred over a 5.3 and be done. There is no way I would do a 4.8 in that heavy of a vehicle unless you only race it with a big converter. No replacement for displacement.
