ok let me try this again. between the weight of the truck and the 3200rpm converter the engine makes a lot of rpm, exhaust pressure and heat very quickly. there for the it tends to be able to spool a turbo quickly. the tc78 is at full boost by the middle of a typical intersection.

i agree load isn't everything, but i do know the heavier the trailer and the steeper the hill the easier is spools to a point. if rpm drops too low then its a mute point. thats why my buddy had to go from his pis poor 3:23's to 3:90's. rpm rise was much faster so turbo came online much quicker and didn't loose spool/boost with gear change like before.

yeah i get ya. that happens a lot online. even when its ment well.

i want to go ahead and step up to the t6 that way i have room to grow later (engine wise). i think with a good tune and the right combo it will spool nicely. its not turbo lag its traction control.

so who wants to buy a tc78 and hot pipe set up?? lol

T4 is an extra $200. Not a huge difference, and t4 is offered all the way to 1.25ar. It packages easier and will flow plenty. I would not put an s480 with the big turbine in the category of a relatively "responsive" turbo, the 87 or 92mm turbine would be my choices depending on how hard you want to push it. Just my 2 cents

$200 bucks is a huge difference when you add up all the other little things. I think this is going to be a good package. With the right tuning, cam and other odds and ends I think she will be a beast. Packaging isn't as big of a deal as one would think under that hood. In a car sure but I. A truck way more room. The tc78 was a beast on the 5.3 I would recommend it any day of the week for great power and fast *** spool. But it's not going to do what I personally want.

i see a few guys on tech are doing true twin scroll hook ups with stock manifolds on the s480. one with a 5.3 spooling it with the quickness, 15psi by 3500-3700rpm.
