Hey guys, ive got a few questions, and I've done the "Search" thing. I come from the LS1 boards, and evolutionm.net boards, and even the Audiworld boards to ask you guys what you think.
My friend would like to get more out of his Truck. He's not looking for numbers to brag about, or dyno charts. He's looking to make more power, for towing, hauling, and moving about las vegas. Here's the info
2004 Chevy Silverado, HD2500, 4x4 Auto 6.0
60,000 lifted 6" on some 35's.
He tow's a 28 ft boat some times, and a toy hauler. He also has a Drag car that will be tow'd to the strip a few times a year. He' called me today and wanted to get more power out of the truck, for hauling, and towing. I asked him what he wanted to spend, now he said he doesnt mind putting some money into it, but he's not looking to build a 9sec truck (Parish) I immidatly told him that FI is the only way to do. Dont even bother with the Intake, TB spacer, ect. Yes, that will net some power, but were looking to tow stuff and make long trips with the trailer.
Ide like to go Blower, Roots, or Centri. Turbo is not out of the picture, but its something that's more involved, and I REALLY dont like the components of the STS kit. (Dont get me wrong, the idea is awesome, but the components are skimped on, for pricing) BTW, a friend is going 10.6 with a custom STS style kit, and the designer of the Kit, is going 10.5 on a completley stock 5.7 LS1. I know the kit makes power.
What im looking for, is a reccomndation. I was leaning twards Procharger, Vortec, or Magna Charger.
• Vortec Supercharger:
• Adds 115 horsepower
• Adds 87 ft/lbs of torque
• 7 PSIG
• Price: $3,841.95 - Scummit.com
• Magnacharger:
• Adds 117 horsepower
• Adds 131 ft/lbs of torque
• 100% complete bolt-on system
• Intercooled
• Price: $5,150.00 - Off homepage.com
• Procharger:
• Adds %50-%65 more HP/Tq
• 6psi ???
• Intercooled
• $4,999.00 - off internets'
Anyone care to chime in? I do know that he wants to keep the exhaust note quite, but im sure we will have to go Headers/Exhaust to acheive full potnetial. A larger or better Intercooler, possably with water/methanol injection will help too. Thanks in advance.

I think that his best bet would be an intercooled Procharger. That is if he can or is willing to have someone fab up the intercooler for him. Prochargers are a great blower and once oyu have the kit on the truck there is alot of room to grow with it. I think that the magna charger might cause too much under the hood heat when towing a big boat like that. So I think that a Procharger P1-SC kit is the way for him to go.
No matter which one you pick, he is going to want to do some tranny upgrades as well.
I dont think you will need the meth either. as for the exhaust, it is hard to make power with a quiet one

If his true goals are towing and hauling I'd probably recommend this setup.
Magnacharger, smaller pulley(3.0"), headers...done. That setup took me from a 14.92 @ 89mph stock to 13.25 @101 mph. Of course his being heavier and having big tires won't run that fast but, it shows my truck probably gained in the area of 160-170fwhp from those mods.
My truck drives like stock unless I get into it and then it just comes alive. Passing power is instant with a slight push on the pedal.
I have some experience with a procharger setup but, not on a truck. Unless he wants to run higher boost and or a bigger stall converter it would probably be better to stay away from the centri blowers.

The boat is a mild concern, as it has a slip at the lake, but if he ever wants to take it someware, or go out to another part of the us, ect.. As far as the FAB goes, I know a bunch of people who could fab it, but i dont think he will be to up for it. Its his work truck, that the company ownes, and he does, so I think he might just want to bolt on over a weekend, and go. Ovbously custom tuning will be in order, but thats covered.

Where did you get your magnacharger, and were there ANY parts not included in the kit you got (Aside from the pully and headers)

Where are you located? Kinda sounds like here in Phx....during the summer the only time I ever see my IAT's below 130 is when I start the truck cold in the morning.....

You can expect your IAT's to run about 25-35 above ambient with the Radix.
