It sounds like it might have come with a shift kit except most of them are color coded as well. I don't think it is part of the STS kit and I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah, no idea what that would be from. Glue it to the dash, maybe you'll go faster

No idea where that spring came from.

Been awhile since I installed mine, but just read the install and it does not mention it.
