My truck is a 2001 silverado 1500ext 5.3 4x4 and I am thinking about purchasing an STS Turbo system. However, I have alot of money in my current exhaust system (was going to spray). I have ASM logtubes custom y-pipe, to single 3" with highflow cat and aerochamber dumped over the axle ,all stainless so i would really like to keep it.
My question is, will i be able to keep the ASM's and the rest of my exhaust except for the muffler if I run the STS kit?

 

why yes, yes you can!

 

I had the same setup and it worked out fine. You will have to lose the muffler. You can remove the cats also and it will spool up about 300 rpm faster.

 

cool, so there will be no fittment probs with the headers and the turbo piping

 

oh, and two more questions, is there alot better gains with port/polish heads and small camwith the turbo, and what is the best way to dump the intercooler and run 100%meth.

 

the cam i have works great with my turbo, not sure what you mean by dumping the intercooler

 

isnt there a way to just not run an intercooler and run some type of full meth or alcohol injection? or am i just being dumb again

 

yes you can run only meth and no intercooler, but w/o an intercooler you must always make sure you have meth or boom! you can also run both for max power.

 

I run both . The cooler for normal driving and towing and the Meth for octane, so I can run cheep gas and still have descent timing

If I could only do 1, I'd to Meth. It cools and an intercooler can't add octane.

 

we put one on a friend GMC 4x4 with the 5.3 motor. it made just shy of 400 wheel hp if i remember correctly. Ill double check tonight.
