Default STS going on this week

hey guys yea its another STS turbo thread haha, i ordered the kit from sts and got everything i need, for a desent price. the dealership that Im having install it for me is going to have it in by the end of the week hopefully! some things I would like to know is what kind of boost will i be able to run on my bone stock 5.3, without blowing it up. and also what other things can i do to help my performance out and save the motor from going, like watermeth, or nos? im gettin 44#injectors with the kit and later down the road i will get the intercooler upgrade but for now please tell me what im gonna have to do to help the motor survive. Another quick question, what kind of power did u all notice when installing this kit? hoe much HP gain? and will my 4.56 gears be ok with this turbo, they said that with the lower gears ill always be right in the low boost range? is that right? please help me out here guys im new with all this...

Man i feel sorry for your transmission... 35" tires...

Ive got about 4k miles on my STS kit at 6psi and i love it...

I would suggest gettin a Walbro 255 fuel pump.. I dont know what power is the limit for the stock pump but it wouldnt hurt and i think you can find them for about $125 or so.

Meth will help alot!!

Get some 918 springs to prevent valve float. A shift kit will help the tranny last a while, but you will definately need to start shopping and saving for a fully built tranny.

With 918 springs and proper tuning your truck will last at 10psi
Meth will insure that it will live longer.

Tune is the most important aspect for survival!!! Keep the timing down and keep the TM in it until you intercool and get a built trans. I agree with the above post. I did a walbro 255 and a vette servo with my install. Welcome to the butt turbo club!

As others have said, TUNE TUNE TUNE. I personaly wouldn't mess with the springs or any other engine mod, until you have a better fuel pump, charge air cooler/and or meth, bigger injectors, and a trans that well handle the power...

It will help it live longer,, but a fully built trans with the goodies inside will last mucch longer!!
Look into a Water-Meth Injection also...
Im researching it right now.. and it will make a huge difference.

My stock tranny, (knock on wood) has lasted 2 1/2 years with just a shift kit and vette servo, and you can see in my sig what kind of times i run . But it the BARE min you should do to the tranny. do have a bit of a tranny fund set aside in case she finely decides to give it up
