Default Stock Muffler and FI

Hey guys...just needing some input. Please see sig for mods...

Stock manifolds and D1 with no cats.

I now have a Hooker Aerochamber that dumps before the axle. It sounds like crap with no cats. Really farm truck like at moderate acceleration. I am wondering if I put my stock muffler back on if it will really decrease the horsepower that much? I figured it flowed fairly decently and since I didn't have cats, I was wondering if you all though it would hurt performance that much?

It's just too damn annoying.

I would say it would be more sleeper with stock muffler, but the ProCharger kinda ruins that. LOL.

Thanks for the help.

I run a Gibson catback but dumped it before the rear axle. It's the quietest I could get beside stock to help get rid of the ORY "blaaaaap"

I would be concerned with boost increase from back pressure.

Yeah, I kinda wondered about that..it made a solid 12 (maybe a tad more) when I had cats on and the Hooker...when I removed them I have seen that it is typically 9-10...MAYBE 11 on a cool day. I wouldn't think it would cause more than a pound difference though? You think?

Maybe look into a Magnaflow diesel muffler?

Hmmm...well I had read that some people are putting a bullet in front of their muffler. I wonder if that would help with rasp?

Try running the pipe back to the rear bumper. The exhaust pulses are bouncing around under your truck.

Adding a resonator near the bumper will also help!

Stock muffler will add backpressure, but dramatically reduce noise.

Look into Bassani's.They sound nasty on our style of trucks. Not annoying loud....but they will turn heads.I have dual super 40 flows on mine. But Im definitely lopping those bastards off and getting dual Bassani's next pay day.Look up on you tube.Theres a white single cab chevy with dual Bassanis and headers that'll pop up.You'll see what I mean....
