Default smallest pulley for 6 rib Procharger set-up?

What do you think the smallest 6 rib pulley can be run on a D1SC shifting between 5500-6000 without excessive belt slip?

With your short rpms, with a stock tensioner and crank pulley, I'm gonna guess around 3.7 with a good belt, if your looking for something reliable. If your looking for track times and can change the belt once it slips, maybe 3.6 but seriously whats the point?

I'd get something in the 3.65 to 3.80 range from Reichard Racing, run a gates HD (Green) belt and call it a day.

For reference I ran a 3.85 (procharger brand) pulley on mine for a couple weekends back when it had the stock tensioner and crank pulley, shifting around 6900 and had pretty shitty results. Over the 4.0 it improved 60' times slightly and about .12 gain in the 1/4 mile, but pulled the same boost, data logs showed a flattening boost curve (belt slip). When I ran the 10.96 it had the 3.85" pulley on it, but I had to run a belt so small that it took a crow bar to put on and it lasted about 3 passes. That was the box stock procharger kit, with stock tensioner and crank pulley at the above mentioned 6900. Made about 14-15 psi.

Regardless of pulley size, it seems like the D1sc is limited to around 12-14 psi before belt problems on the stock 6-rib setup. This is pretty broad statement, but I think it holds true for most of the ls-style engines you see on the road. In other words, if you at 14 psi with a 4" it's about done, if your at 14 psi with a 3.6" its about done.

Convert to the HD tensioner, over-drive crank pulley and an RR blower pulley on 8-rib and you can max a D1sc with zero problems. Just be sure to weld the **** out of your water pump pulley. lol

Blown06 - thanks for the advice man

I've done well with my current 3.7" on a 6 rib.I think it is do to the lower rpm shift points that I'm not seeing slip issues.I saw a nice increase in power over the 4" pulley with the 3.7".

I'm going 80E soon,so I'm looking at simple ways to increase power output on my set-up.

Hell, if your having luck...step it up to a 3.55" RR pulley. Those things work and worth the high price tag in my opinion. How much boost are you making with your current set up?

im running a 3.4" stock pc pulley on my P1 and dont have a problem with belt slip, 6 rib, stock tensioner...im seeing about 9-10psi with stock bottom end and a 224/228 114lsa cam. then again, depending on which brackets you are running (99-03 OR 04+) you may or may not run into belt slip with smaller than a 3.7. A friend of mine was running a 3.4 on his truck with the 99-03 brackets and couldnt keep the belt from slipping but with mine on the 04+ brackets i havent had any problems. kinda a hit or miss IMO
