If you are putting down decent power and plan to lock at wide open then look into a Billet input shaft, I dont know what you have so I am just throwing that out there.

Myself, I run a triple disk. I like having it locked for highway pulls and plan to try locking it at the track this weekend to compare locked vs. unlocked if I get enough runs.

Sounds good! Post up the results. It's got a billet input shaft.

So this question is still out there, any issue with locking in 2nd? I honestly don't see myself going WOT in 3rd very often, and never in 4th.

Drove that for a week and pulled it. Been using the stocker since. I do have 3.23's and am heavy which definitely factors in. I think its a 9.5 though so maybe a 10.5 would be better.
Good info. I read the larger converter will be tighter. Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think a stock converter will stand up to that power. And with it's low stall it won't work very will with the turbo.

Yes, I've talked to him a couple times. He recommended the 10.25" single disk 3200-3400 stall. I think that stall is too high for me, but then again, I've never driven or been in a vehicle with an aftermarket converter. All I have to go by is youtube videos lol. He does of course offer re-stalls, but that's 2 weeks of downtime on my daily driver, not good.

What kind of boost are you pushing and when do you get full boost?

I'm in the same boat man. Never driven a stalled converter and have been recommended the pt3200 from yank. Some on here say that's a great dd stall others say its too much. I have the same concerns as you although I'd like to be able to tow.

Right now I'm getting 8-13psi depending on gear. In a high gear I can typically reach full boost by 2800 RPM. I originally thought 2300 but that when the boost really starts to pick up. Maybe tomorrow morning I'll do a log of this.

Wouldn't the stall of the converter only really matter for 1st gear when launching? I understand that the stall speed and have an affect on RPM drop during shifts and what not, but in terms of selecting a high enough stall to ensure the turbo can spool up, the only time that would be a concern is below stall RPM, which you're only really at in 1st when launching or at low speed in general (talking about WOT here). Once moving with some speed, the trans will downshift at WOT and likely instantly be above stall speed and the turbo will spool quickly. Is my thinking way off?

chris's converters act very tight on normal driving compared to other's I've driven and rode in. my 4000+ converter acted much tighter than some 3,600 converters I've seen.

Does this include boosted vehicles?
