side mount whipple 2300ax.

I found one for pretty cheap. Was wondering if anyone has had any luck with it. Some pro's and con's, and what kind of power did you make? Whipple vs radix? Somrhing like that. Or is it not worth the time or money. What kind cooling mods. Looking for some information on it. And past experience with the side mount whipple. The whipple is 1800 obo.

Any boost is better than no boost. But...
Those are not intercooled, and IMHO a side mount is a PITA to work on. Pulleys and other parts are now basically obselete & difficult to find. Whipple-tronics is junk, so you'll need to devise your own fuel system and PCM tuning. But, depending on your goals, it may work just fine for you.
Honestly, if you've already saved up $1800 for boost, you still need another $500-1000 (or more) for your pump, injectors, and tuning. You'd be better off to just keep saving and find a more complete INTERCOOLED form of forced induction.
Good luck!

This is exactly the way most will feel about it.

I have had a side-mount whipple on my truck for 10 years. When I originally installed it, there was no way to reflash ecu's, etc so I have been through many stages and 4 different pully sizes.
I ditched the whipple-tronics a long time ago and put in 42# marine injectors. Currently making around 12-13 psi with methanol injection, heads, cam, headers, etc. It makes about 450 at the wheels and even more torque, and makes it off the line. This is with a very conservative tune as the IATs tend to be high spinning the sc this fast. In the summertime in AL, I hardly drive it because it will post IATs in the 150-200 degree range. So timing gets pulled and it doesn't run nearly as strong.
That said, I have a Magnacharger MP122 waiting to go on the truck. I think that even at the same boost levels I will make a lot more power, make it safer and more consistently with the intercooler.
However, if you are only going for 6-8 psi the whipple may not be so bad. My truck picked up 110 rwhp when it was bone stock making 6 psi. I will be selling mine after removing it from my truck. I will include 4 pullies($200 ea) and the 42# injectors, as well as the whipple tronics if wanted, and will be pleased if I can get $1800 for it....

It all depends on what your intentions are or your application I'm actually in the middle of a project on one that I took off of my 5.3 suburban and now I've got it mounted on a 90 ss truck with a dominator 468 I'm planning on running 7 pounds and converting the carb to ethanol
