Default School me on this supercharger

I bought a 2000 rcsb 5.3 with the whipple supercharger, I was wondering about pulley sizes I could use and if I need the change the belt, I have heard there not very efficient, but I got a steal on the truck, or If I should even waste money on the pulley and maybe just get if tuned

It's not intercooled, so you need to be careful how hard you push it. That said, it's a 2.3 liter blower, and can make enough power to blow up your 5.3 liter.

I'd recommend upgrading your fuel pump & injectors, ditch the Whippletronics garbage, and get a custom tune as a start. What other mods does the truck have?

I think it has a larger trans cooler, it has some stainless braded lines to the tranny, shorty headers which I heard are worthless, has a tci oil pan but not sure if that means anything and I think it has a stall, that is about all I know, if I get a small pulley do I need to get a new belt

I would get it tuned first by someone who knows what they're doing. That person could probably also tell you a lot about the truck just by looking at it.

The tuning session should provide a good starting place and identify some weak links/attention areas in the combo.

thanks for the info guys, just cant find much info on this specific supercharger on the internet, i think will probably try to get it tuned

How hard is it to pipe in an air-to-air intercooler with these? The benefit you have is that meth injection can be run after the blower unit.

Whipple Industries Basically the same as you have other then being intercooled.

Nah! unless you go really small. A quarter inch smaller pulley will add around 2-3 psi depending on the heads and cam in it. I have gone down 1/2 inch and still use the same belt. There is a slider pulley below the spring tensioner that you can loosen and slide to add more tension - at least there is on mine. Pullies are on Ebay.

I have had the exact same setup for 9 years on my 2000 extended cab Z71. Ditch the extra injectors and the Whipple tronics. Mine always ran really well with them but it was always fairly lean. I would get some mild pinging in the hot summer from time to time.

I have pullied mine down twice - one quarter of an inch at a time and currently make around 11 psi. Started at 6, btw. I run 50/50 meth and water on mine in lieu of trying to intercool it. I spray before the blower and have my IAT sensor where the extra fogger injectors were. Meth will not really help if you don't move the IAT from the MAF to somewhere it can get a post Meth reading. Meth really helped get my IATs down closer to ambient temps, but I am using a #6 nozzle with my Snow kit and it uses a LOT of Meth.

Oh, and ditch the stock airbox and the rectangular air intake. I just used some 4 inch silicone pieces and some 4 inch piping and fabbed up a less restrictive intake with a big K&N on the end.

it does not have heads or cam, if I got it tuned and maybe put a smaller pulley on there would that be pretty good and just curious what kind of hp do you think it would have

It all depends on what boost level your at now. More boost is more to the equation. If you do not have a boost gauge, that is a wise choice, so is a fuel pressure gauge and a AFR gauge. That will let ya keep a eye on whats going on. Also with more boost you will need to have the PCM retuned for that particular boost level..
