Default Radix N20 Question

I am getting ready to install my NX nitrous kit. It will be on a progressive controller. I am currently running about 8.5# with a 2.9 pulley on the 6.0.

My question is, should I...

Run a 75 shot with 8.5#?

or

Run a 100 shot with 6.5#? (3.1 pulley)

I am leaning towards less boost and more nitrous because the engine will not have to overcome the pumping losses of the blower and suffer from IAT issues.

I'd run the bigger shot with the bigger pulley. I think you would gain more, like you said, with less pumping losses and lower IATs from both the N2o and less air compression. I think the motor would be happier that way.

Run the smaller pulley with 8.5lbs boost and the 100 shot. Just do it. I know I know everyone else will say more nitrous less boost but look what can be done with more of both! Just my opinion but 8.5lbs isn't the threshhold of boost levels, it's not like you are at 12lbs and generating tons of heat. I suppose it's easy enough to do both ways and see what works for you. Good luck putting it down to the ground and DON'T FORGET to CALL ME when you are ready to try it out, I will come to video only

I dont think I have you luck Bill... Knowing my luck, my engine would blow. Haha

I think I will start with a 50 on the progressive. Ramp it based on time. If it hooks, bump it up to a 75. It will probably take a few trips to the track. I will also need to download the nitrous COS from EFI Live.

I wonder how much the engine could take with a safe tune? I dont think it would take a 100 and 8.5#. That would be close to 650 rwhp.

sure, easy! If I can push the 5.3 to 625 why not 650 for a 6L doit!

I agree with starting smaller and then bumping it up. I may throw a 100 at mine on top of 10# when I have the fresh engine sitting in the garage.

My present setup is 50 shot for about .6 seconds then to 75.

Thanks for the info Roger. Which progressive controller do you have? What is the 60' improvement boost only vs boost and N20? I dead hook with a crappy 1.85 60'. What a joke. lol

I am hoping the N20 will improve my 60' to at least a mid 1.7. I will increase the spray as much as I can with the tires (28" Hoosier full slicks) hooking. My ultimate goal would be high 1.6's. Just that alone should be worth a few tenths I would think.

How much timing are you running with the 75 shot? I know Bill is running almost 20 degrees.

I bought the cheapest progressive unit I could find. Dyno Tune unit and it does the trick nicely. With the 80e and no nitrous I'll 1.8 sixty. With the gas consistent 1.65- 1.68.

Timing is IAT dependent. Max of 21 and minimum 15. Usually launch at 21 and depending on temps will end up at about 17. Good cold days I'll stay 21 the entire pass. I am also spraying as much meth as my kit will on the gas.

Good info! I plan on running race gas at the track, at least 5 gallons. What converter do you have and what does it flash to?
