Woooo... With all that in mind I'll go a little more extreme on the cam. A little bit of overlap and probably 12* split.

I think a good exhaust bias little advance and tighter LSA is a good plan. To me unless it's pure drag toy I would go 228/236 LSA114+3. I am more on the conservative side in general.

With 4* overlap that cam isn't as conservative of a blower cam as you'd think. It would do pretty well though and have a nice and fat mid range!

I agree on the exh being too short. I normally go 10~14 deg split on my blower cams unless it's a really small blower and really efficient exh port.

Yeah, since she'll remain my DD for the foreseeable future I'll keep it just a tick conservative. When I'm ready to gut the bucket out and put it out to pasture for just the track I have plenty in mind. I really appreciate all the advice and will probably go just a bit more aggressive that the baby cam I'm running right now. Any suggestions on where to pick up what I need? I got the one I'm running now from Texas Speed and I'm pretty happy with it all told.

Sorry for the thread-jack darkirish. I figured it would be better than starting a thread on the same topic.

I have a stock bottom LM7 with 215/223 0.604"/0.610" on 112+5 LSA. It has 1 3/4" primary LTs and 243s milled 0.030". I will be adding whipple 2.3 with the stock 3.875" pulley first before going to about 12 psi. What is your opinion on this cam for this application? Here's a link to more details on the cam.

54-455-11 - LSR? Cathedral Port (Small Displacement or Max Torque, 4.8L-5.3L)

It has about -5 overlap. Considering the size of the motor it will be pretty stout. I think you will hit that boost level pretty easy with a 2.3L and 5.3L.

Thanks for the reply gamble, would it be worth it to have a custom cam spec'd and made? The benefit here could be two-fold. first, I get a cam that is made specifically for the application. Second, I am becoming weary of comp cams and am afraid of it ruining the engine.

If you were to change the cam, what would you guys suggest? More split I would image. Does intake duration and lift seem ok?

That cam is really designed for bottom end tq NA. It jacks up the DCR and with a blower/tight converter that makes it tough to tune. You will be fighting knock down low. I would go with something different, but if you already have it in the truck it will be OK.

The only time I don't recommend getting a custom speced cam is in very mild builds. To me if someone doesn't already have a cam and they are shooting for more than 100hp over stock then a custom speced cam just makes sense. It's a $20 well spent to maximize a builds potential.
