Your given this guy more credit than I ever would with the last part of your statement. I think he's just spewing complete BS. To say something like "lumpy cam ...came with the car when he bought it brand new" is the most completly blatent load of crap I ever heard, unless I'm missing something. If he was gonna pull someone's leg I figure he'd make it at least believable.

 

The only reason why I believed him was because he had an '01 Camaro SS w/ SLP package. It was a limited edition from SLP so I really didnt know what it came with.

 

Oh I'm with you there bro! I actually know less about those cars than you do. I just wouldn't give that camaro owner any credit for being smart enough to know a lot and hide it by playing stupid. I know the type, I'm thinking he most likely picked a nice round number and barfed it up. A car that runs 600rwhp is gonna look alot more modded than a stockish engine with a procharger. Figure it puts out 850 flywheel hp and that's alot of engine to hide. But I guess it can be a supersleeper and there out there. IMO he's either running way more boost than he's telling you or he's on the bottle. This is just my .02 cents.

There was a guy running around here that sounds very similar. Trans Am with a Paxton centrifi, cam, with nitrous on a stock LS1 blah blah blah. He says he runs in the 9's all day long with a t56. My friend ran into him at Checker Auto Parts and we just couldn't believe we've never seen or even heard of this guy. Well that's because it was all bullshit. I'm not saying that its not possible, but word gets out quick when you've got a car that nasty.

Try to look him up over on tech. If he's got 600rwhp on a stock shortblock he's probably a poster or even an avid lurker. I've found a few locals that way. You can even search local forums.

 

600rwhp on a stock shortblock wont last long without some luck and a damn good tune, and by the statement he made i doubt he has a custom tune
