When you get back check it out. But we don't need to know when it shifts. Just what RPM it is when cruising. Shifting means nothing since it's based on throttle position.
And yea, you can stop saying heavy duty. lol.
how about this. Put it in 2nd and take it up to 60. What RPM does that give you? along with your tire size there is a Gear/Tire size calculator in the GM/Drivetrain section at the top in the stickies.

Again. the KICK you describe is nothing more than a shift kit.... however. you shift out of first at Wide Open Throttle at 26mph?

THAT DOESN'T mean anything!!!! Dang man, I can't make it more clear than that. I want to help you. I really do man. I know how it was when I was in high school(not too terribly long ago), but you have to be willing to take advice and learn from it. Asking questions with closed ears doesn't get anyone anywhere.

Building a transmission is as expensive as you want to make it. You can "rebuild" a transmission for a few hundred dollars, or add in billet output shafts, beast sunshell, servos, new 3-4 clutch pack, new 2-4 band, new clutches, new solenoids, deeper trans pan, new planetaries, etc etc. You can eventually get to the point where you have over $2000 in parts. alone.

Mark, your posts are always entertaining. Kid if you still want a turbo kit look at the one for 3200. its a kit I built and made 500 to the ground on a stock 5.3. its going to be hard to find one any cheaper

no i understand, am just repeating what my dad said to help you guys out to explain it to me lol, his insurance covored like 1500 and my dad had to pay like around 300, it wasnt cheap from what i heard, when it went out it wouldnt shift out of 2nd and somtimes it would shift into 3rd, but sounds like i do need my transmission tuned, it will shift nice when driving normal, but sometimes shifts hard out of 1st, but if am picking up speed fast, then it always shift hard out of 1st, but i have the same transmission but rebuild with differant gears

Very little actually makes me angry on an internet forum contrary to what my posts may suggest. I don't sit at a desk in a dark room with a single rusty old lamp shining over my head waiting to respond to internet truck forum posts.

You do realize that gears do not go in the transmission right? Technically there are transmission gears although it is extremely rare that people swap those out and certainly not cheap.

Your dad probably had some 3.73s or 4.10s put in the differential(the axle if you don't know what that is). That won't make the truck stronger and it could potentially hurt your truck's performance with a turbo as it creates less load for the turbo.

Every stock truck is like that. If you put the truck in 1st gear there truck will automatically shift at a certain point. I remember before I had my transmission rebuilt mine would do the same thing. I haven't tried it since the rebuild though and I've heard a shift kit allows you to manually command gears longer.
