i missed this thread when it was new.

i dont hear a lot of good coments about the pt88 but from my one experience with it i am impresed especialy for the money it costs and how easy it is to package. wouldn't most of those other turbos mentioned require a complete redesign of the turbo kit to make things work. stuff like 5" or 6" air filter and 5" down pipe flange? also the physical size of some of those other turbos and the t6 flange. that is a lot of work when you can pretty much just bolt on a pt88 and make some good hp.

first trip to the dyno i hit 1000rwhp on a 408. thats with a small intercooler, stock 78mm tb and intake. i also ran my quickest et with this turbo and in my eyes reached the limit of what a stock iron block and 4 bolt heads can take.

the very first time i floored my truck with this turbo i broke my 4l80e input shaft. it is going to take a very serious set up to use the power that this "too small" of a turbo is able to make. one of my first races with this turbo was against a zx12R and i held the guy off from the start to the finish. at 130mph he was not gaining on me.

A boosted 427 and only turn 6,000 rpm? I would spin it to at least 7k, that is if it had a turbo matched to the engine.

I would say if you are going for max HP above and beyond the 76mm, then yes the 88 is fine..

Not sure, sent it down the road to the customer, but never heard back.

But of course the 408 for sale in your sig has never been past 5000, right?

Have you ever owned a turbocharged V8?

Against everyons advise Im planning on trying a Pt88 T4 on my 370 this spring. Want to make 20psi @ 6000' elevation, We will see what happens. Did you ever push water with the Pt88/4 head bolt setup?
