Procharger trouble?
#1
Ok, the other day I changed the procharger over to my other truck and buttoned it all up. On the way in to boost I blew the hose hose off the outlet of the Procharger, in the process of the hose blowing off the oil dipstick blew out of the oil pan. I heard the hose blow off and saw the hose clamp roll across the road and was immediately out of the throttle, but now I'm starting to hear a rattle like a bearing going out. I'm wondering if anyone else had this problem. The reason I'm asking is cuz I just got the truck all tuned and hoping I didn't damage the engine becuz I can't really tell where the noise is coming from. It sounds like it is coming from the back of the procharger but also sounds like it is coming from the driver side valve cover. Anyone else have this problem or might be able to help me out.

See I was thinking the motor, but I can't see how losing boost would hurt the motor. I would think after losing the boost it would make the truck go to the rich side, but then again I didn't hear the back fire when I let out. I let out of the gas as soon as the hose popped leading me to believe that its a bearing in the procharger. Hopefully some others will give me some ideas.

I didn't have the the holder secured to the header so I actually blew out the entire dipstick holder with the dipstick. I have the hose running the BOV to the intake. Do I need to make the hole bigger or do I have another issue with the pressure? Also do you think I hurt the motor or maybe the procharger?

When I lean on mine real hard it blows the dip stick out as well. I usually have to zip tie it down to keep from making a mess. I'm telling you this cause my truck has done it for 2 years and motor is not hurt. Its just an issue of not have a system in place to vent or scavenge enough crankcase pressure.
Now on the flip side, it could also be a sign that the motor is hurt. I don't want to tell you that the dip stick issue is ok, just that it can happen on a motor that is not hurt.
My suggestion would be to remove the belt and fire the engine for about 30-45 seconds and see if you still hear the noise. If so then you've got motor issues. If not, then its probably the blower.
My guess is that the hose blowing off is secondary to your problems. I can't see how that in itself could have hurt anything.
