The OP never said he had 10 psi and lost it somewhere, and now only has 5-6 psi. He wants 10 psi out of his setup.

I don't believe the PowerDyne will get him there with 317 heads on his 5.3(with dished pistons). I also don't think he will get to 10 psi with the stock 5.3 heads, but maybe 7-8 psi is possible. The PD supercharger isn't known to be the most effiecient choice out there. It's the cheapest(for a reason).

Agreed PD's are not the best unit.. The heads with out adoubt are eating up boost..

Yeah i'm not sure what the max boost will be as when I put it on, the best I could get was 2 psi but it would bleed off fast. Thats when I found out I had an intake leak. Fixed that and now I get 5 psi. I've never driven a boosted vehicle before so how does boost work in releation to throttle position or rpm. If I hold it at 3000 rpm should my boost stay at a certain number?

The centrifugal's that I've driven or ridden in were ProChargers. They seem to start building boost around 3000 rpm, at WOT, and boost increases in a linear fashion as engine rpm goes up. One setup was seeing 8 psi at 6000ish rpm, another was seeing 10-11 psi before the transmission shift. Boost will be relative to engine rpm.

You will never see a constant boost level at a giving rpm(holding it there) once the load decreases so will boost.. The more rpm you spin it the more it will make. The pulley you have is made to make max boost at( a rpm rated for that pulley) Basically a belt driving turbo is what we have.. I making just a touch under 10 psi at about 6-6200(shift point) but stays a constant 5-6 psi while under any load..

Seems as though it was belt slip. I hit 7 psi under load but not full rpm as I was on the streets. That and i'm starting to get popping under load. I had the same thing a while back after the new tranny and I though it was a problem with that but turns out it one spark plugs got hit somehow and bent an electrode causing a missfire. Will have to check and see if its the same and look as to why.

Glad you got it fiexed. You sure the plug go hit or the electrode is melted.. The poping soinds like knock, form being to lean.. Might want to get a AFR gauge on there to see where it is.. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge???

Nope the first plug got hit, I had the bosch platinum +4 and one of the 4 electrodes was bent over touching the center piece. I have a AFR gauge but I need to change out the sensor, it's reading something like 14.8. It's on order. As for the popping it's really rappid similar to bouncing off the rev limiter. Like I said it feels like before so i'll check the plug and go from there. I have a fuel pressure gauge.

Get a set of NGK TR6, ditch the P4's.
