Default Is It Possible ?

I Have A 2004 Silverado And It's Pro Charged . It Has A Digital Compass & Out Side Temp Gauge In The Rear View Mirror . Would It Be Possible To Use The Out Side Temp Gauge For A Air Intake Temp Gauge ? Think It Could Be Done ...

I don't see why not. The sensor is on the driver side in front of the radiators, down kinda behind the bumper. Just take it out and put it in the intake where you want to read the temp, should be that easy.

That sounds like an excellent idea, I would bet that it is most likely a 3 wire variable resistor & could be spliced in to an earlier style IAT sensor. That is an intelligent observation

I think he is wanting to use the guage in the mirror to read a second temperature in addition to the factory IAT sensor.

yeah, what i was thinking is that he could splice in an older styler IAT sensor into the harness for the ambiant temp sensor. this way when installed in the aircharge tract it would read IAT temps on the mirror.

I could have misunderstood though.

No, I misunderstood you is what it was.

Why splice in a different sensor though, it already is a temp sensor.

I wonder if its anywhere near as accurate as the stock IAT? I doubt it. More than likely its going to have high variance in temps and be slow to respond and update temp changes. For a rough estimate of your temps, it would probably work fine. I just can't see it quickly scrolling through temps in real time as you go in and out of boost.

FWIW - I played around with some temp sensors made for a computer system. They ran off 12v power, so it was an easy fit. The one I tried had 4 sensors and an LCD to display all them at once. I figured it would be cool to mount a small LCD in the truck and be able to monitor exterior IAT, pre-blower IAT, post-blower IAT, and aftercooled IATs. Unfortunately, the sensors had a very very slow response time and were more frustrating than useful. When you are used to seeing data in real time with a laptop, you get spoiled.
