Positive Displacement Blower Options
What are the positive displacement blower options available out there today; such as MP112, TVS1900, TVS2300, Kenne Belle, etc? A quick list would be great. There seems to be many options available these days, and the sticky hasn't been updated in more than 3 years.
I'm on the fence between one of these or a turbo for my '01 Silverado. Leaning towards turbo right now, but the instant torque of a blower is tempting. Thanks! |
TVS 2300 if you want to go big, or run low boost and be a sleeper. 8-10lbs should get you to the 500rwhp range.

You need to be specific about your goals...
If you only want 8-10lbs a tvs1900 will be better and more responsive than the 2300. |
My goal is a list of PD blowers out there that will bolt onto a cathedral or rectangular port LSx engine. That way I can research my options on here and ls1tech and not waste your guys' time ;)

Wheres the fun in that?
Magnacharger: old: mp112 mp122 new: tvs1900 tvs2300 (front and jackshaft drive versions) whipple: 2.3L 2.9L KB: 2.3L 2.9L I know at least one person has done this but it was a ton of work since the blower is meant for a camaro. eldelbrock has their tvs2300 look alike, along with slp |
Vortech also offers a PD blower, it appears very similar to a whipple unit.

Roush had their TVS1900 GM truck kits briefly.
If you're on a budget, I would go MP112. If you are patient, I bet you could pick one up for $2500 (versus $4000 for a used TVS1900). With the $1500 you save you can buy blower cam ($700 total), China stainless LT's ($500), and tune ($300) and run circles around the TVS1900. |
Roush, junk, period. Pound for pound the 2300 puts down more power, will have lower IAT's and be more driveable. I'm saying this from experience having gone from a TVS 1900 @ 5 lbs, to 7, 10, 12, then the 2300 from 14 to 17lbs. Go with a 2300. You will have room to grow. As far as a 1900 being more "responsive," I beg to differ.

For a 5.3, the 1900 will be more responsive for low boost. As for the Roush blowers being junk, I'd say Tim's truck running mid 11s with one negates that statement all together. Not to mention, different boost levels makes comparing the two blowers a waste of time. Don't be brash; it isn't well-accepted in these parts.
