Higher HP rating. I have the parts I recommended and am confident in running 800+fwhp with them. For your HP goal those lesser expensive parts are plenty strong.

In addition to higher HP capability, u usually better materials &/or machining. Profiling & just an overall greater attn. to detail on higher end stuff.
BTW, I thought the Howard's rods were $600 or so. I looked a little & found they're $825-925. Rated @ 800HP & @ 1000HP tho.
IIRC, Scat makes some engine components or blanks for other manfacturers too.

My machine shop is recommending Compstar rods with Mahle pistons. He doesn't have much good to say about Eagle and Scat rods. He's going to crap on my $1K budget though. Anyone have a problem with the Compstar rods?
