Default Piston brand choice

Is there a preferred forged piston brand that people have had better luck with then others? Just curious before I buy for my FI build? Mahle, Wiseco, Diamond???

Wiseco has been good to me so I would surely recommend them. However, unless you are doing some exotic build, any of the top name 2618 pistons will fit the bill. Just stick with one that fits your budget and sized for your desired compression ratio.

I agree with this.

I used Wiseco in the 370 I built. Great package for the money.

All of the big brands make good strong pistons. I am running some custom JE's that are holding up really well. In my opinion you should think about 2618 vs 4032 depending on what you're building it for (longevity or max effort). The major differences after that are a little bit the quality of machine work, and more so how much hand work your building might need to do to assemble the engine.

The pistons will be going in a 6.2L whipple build, around 700hp crank and it will be daily driven. So I’m looking for longevity

Wiseco bought Diamond early last year so the production standards are just as good. I run Diamonds in my current stroker and they're much quieter than the Mahles were in my previous build.

I ran mahle pistons in my street truck for years. Was supercharged and depending on pulley configuration I made anywhere from 14 to 23 psi of boost and they never had a problem

I have diamonds in my race motor.
