PCV Catch Can Setup
I've done a ton of reading on this topic including the 15+ page thread on Ls1tech but still cant quite figure out what way to run my set up. I found another thread on this site with some pics/diagrams of setup ups and I think I found my set up but wanted to verify it with you guys before I start.
This is what I plan on doing. any opinions/objections? http://www.andersonperformance.net/pcv-1ls1extfi.jpg |
When you are under boost and the check closes, the blowby in the crankcase has to go somewhere. That will be through the green line straight into the turbo. I don't know the answer, maybe another catch can in the clean line.

I wouldn't run anything to in front of the turbo or supercharger without a catch can in-line. I don't get the whole clean side, dirty side thing, you'll get blowby from every location or in the case of a turbo or supercharger it'll suck the oil right out of the valve cover. The dual catch can setup seems to be the best way.
|
Nice illustration, I find the route from the side of the catch can abit confusing. Where exactly is it hooked too? TB? Intake?
|
I beleive its going into the manifold.
|
you could do it and run a check valve also with that green line you have going to the turbo, i also have been reading up on catch cans alot lately and read the same thread over on Tech.

I found the graph/diagram on a link in this thread https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...thread-496547/
I had the stock setup when I first installed the turbo but kept getting white smoke out the exhaust when getting outta boost. Some suggested venting my oil cap. So I did that and no more smoke, but according to the thread above I shouldnt vent the cap. Im lost |

Then crankcase pressure will find its way out, probably by blowing the dipstick and oil out of the dipstick tube.

Did alot of reading too on this and almost read them all. Persoanlly I dont like that idea of oil getting back to my intake.
I found some Industrial setup catch cans, used by diesel guys mostly. Some are rated 2000hp :headbang: that is if you can find a place to put it :sigh: http://www.parker.com/literature/Rac...s_Sept2008.pdf |
