Default Opinion on cam choice for 6.2 with 2300 jackshaft

Cam is 224/230 .609/.615 116+2. Cam is currently in the engine and drives GREAT. It's a 6.2 L92, with CNC LS3 heads, 1 7/8 kooks, stock L92 intake with ls2 injectors.

I will be soon installing a 2300 Maggie. What's your opinion on the cam for the combo. Thanks

It's a little bigger on the intake and smaller on the exhaust than what I'd choose if given a clean slate. It's already there though. If you like how it drives and don't mind a few less mpg's, run it and enjoy. The Maggie on top will only make it better

How much power will I be leaving on the table vs a custom cam? I'm not trying to go above 230 on the exhaust side(CA smog).

Believe it or not, my MPGs are about the same as when I had the stock LS2.

I think you're leaving little if any hp on the table. Even with a blower cam that's stupid big, you won't pick up much, power wise, with a TVS2300. If you're happy with the manners and MPG, I wouldn't even consider changing it. Spend the time and money on something else.

IMO a great option is the LS9 Cam. Good write up on it on GMHigh-Tech magazine. Will give you extra 40-50 rwhp vs the stock cam even after you go with 2300(personal experience with mine after added turbo and friends that is stock after he added turbo). Its smog legal cause its a gm oem cam.
Its very affordable vs custom cam...
I wouldnt recommend it if you were going to stay N/A, but for boosted truck its great.

But are the gains worth the cam swap from my current cam? I can see the 40-50rwhp gain from stock LS3 cam, but my current cam probably gained that vs stock LS3 cam.

I do have a LOW mile LS7 cam sitting on my shelf, which is basically an LS9 cam with a lower LSA.

I'd use the LS7 cam before the LS9. Matter of fact, I have an LS7 cam that's about to go in my truck. My mpg's suck and I drive my truck 40K a year. 12mpg burning 93 is getting old.

The cam you have is fantastic for your setup. We are talking very very small improvement if you swap cams. Maybe 10-15hp in a perfect world.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to hear. 10-15hp if I'm lucky doesn't add up to the time and money. I guess I'll find out when the time comes.
