Oil smoke
#1
Since I did my lifters my truck has smoked at a specific time. When Ive driven on the highway for a while and I get off to go to a gas station for example, I let it idle for a few minutes to let it cool down. Then when I go to start the truck again it will have a decent blue smoke come out the exhaust and it will continue for a few minutes once I start driving. If I just let it idle it doesnt seem to stop.
The only weird thing that I can think of happened when I did the lifters was I put my truck on my drive on lift to take the crossover off then drove it off the lift to the bay next to the lift. When I had the turbo off I saw wetness in the exhaust housing behind the wheel. So it seems like the seal leaked b/c the turbo possibly wasnt spinning?
It almost always will smoke if I get off the highway and restart it but sometimes out of the blue it will do it when I start it when the trucks hot.
Theres only so many places oil can be burned and the truck has brand new valve seals, theres no reason why the rings would all of a sudden go bad the truck has 124k on it
The turbo is an on3 76/64, can I get a seal for it or no?
Any suggestions of what else to check is appreciated thank you

Straight down to the front of the oil pan basically let me see if I can find some pics
I dont have any at the moment but theres 2" peice of 1/2 pipe that comes out the bottom od the turbo to a 1/2" 45 to a hose barb to 5/8 hose to a 45 to a 2" peice of 1/2 pipe going into the front of the pan. The hose is pretty vertical I dont think I have any drain issues. Plus it smokes when its hot, when the oil is thinner and flows good

Ok. Just a thought...When I installed my turbo I had a similar situation with oil smoke and found that it was the return line (installed in front by the crank pulley). I shortened the hose a 1/2" or so, rerouted it more vertically and it solved the issue.
It sounds like your issue may be the turbo seals?

Does anyone have any pictures of their oil return line, I think mine may need to be rerouted. It sounds like my oil return line is in the same spot as everyone else, in front of the oil pan.
