oil leak with sts
#1
i have the basic sts kit on 2002 silverado 5.3 the truck only has 30,000 miles and 2,000 with the turbo. and now i look at my driveway every mornin and theirs a leak. i think its coming from the oil return, at the top where it connects to the oil cap. and also the silcone sleeve from the throtle body to the pipe sucks in when opened at wot. also i get a load knocking at wot. n e clues that can help me out guys thanx?

Sounds to me like you have a few issues....but the knocking would be my number one concern....how did you calibrate the PCM?

The oil leak sounds like it is the little yellow o-ring inside the quick connect. Look down inside the coupler and the o-ring is most likely smashed or torn. When you disconnect the QD from the oil cap a few too many times it tends to destroy the o-ring. I have seen these leak before. It comes right out of the middle of the QD. Actually I believe that the original yellow o-ring is more squared but I have used a yellow o-ring from a fuel rail rebuild kit. That seems to be the correct size.

On the 90 degree elbow you can either call STS and they make a stiffer elbow now or put a hose clamp around the center section of the elbow right where it sucks in and tighten it only until it just starts to collapse the hose. Just a few suggestions on the lesser important issues. I hope the knocking sound wasn't anything major.
