Default New Vortech Twin Screw installed on 5.3 Chevy. Looking for a tuner...

UPDATED info and times.

09/06/2013 11.95 @113.75 DA 6000

10/23/2012 added new time slip. 12.95 @ 105 DA 4751

Hey all (new to site), (updated with time slip)

I have a 2008 RCSB Silverado (2WD). I recently had a Vortech Twin Screw (Lysholm 2.3 liter unit) installed. I'm looking for someone who can tune the engine for my altitude. I have the Vortech tune, but I live at 5200'. I love the set up and it runs great. However, truck ran a lot better in California (where it was installed). I know there is more in there with tuning and or a pulley swap. I'm getting about 6.5 lbs. of boost on my stock 5.3 at this altitude. I should be safe stepping up to 8.5 (right? Vortech advertises the kit at 8.5 lbs. or can I safely go more with a stock engine?). I didn't get a chance to monitor boost at sea level.

I'm in Utah.

Any suggestions on a tuner? There is no one close to me (3 hours to SLC, 6 Hours to St. George, 4 hours to Grand Junction, CO and 6 hours to Denver, CO.) I'd like to find someone in SLC. I'm not convinced that a mail order tune can get me my setups full potential. Or can it?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike, Welcome to PT.net.

I'd contact Justin@BlackBear performance (site sponsor), his methods of "mail order tuning" and his experience with forced induction are top-notch.

Yours is the first Vortec twin-screw on the site I'm aware of, but we have plenty of whipple owners here. Enjoy the site and read all you have time for.

Nice looking setup. To bad the twin screw on top like that is a day late.Hopefully not any ponies short though.
Far as tuning goes I would recommend rick @ synergy but,he's in Newark ca.Or maybe justin @ blackbear if he's going to be around your neck of the woods.

Nice looking package. What's up with that dinner plate of an upper pulley? It looks huge in the picture

Are you running 5 or 6lbs with that pulley?

It's a 4" upper pulley so there is plenty of room to go down without belt slippage. Currently my boost peaks at 6.5 lbs.

Inlet tube goes from 3.25" at the MAF unit up to 3.75" at the TB.

It is a stock TB.

Ah. It's not round. Looks to be 3.5" to 3.75" tall and 3.25" to 3.5" wide. Kinda hard to get and good measurement and it's getting dark.
