Default New heads...how to tie them down

I'm adding some 243 LS2/6 heads to my LQ4 with an MP122 Radix on top. Compression should go up about a pt. or a little more. What should I use for head bolts/studs? Boost is about 9 psi.

I vote for studs....My camaro has them, my turbo ls1 51 ford has them, and soon my Avalanche will have them. I swear by studs.

With studs, do you use the same tq. values and tightening sequence?

ARP studs and Cometic head gaskets. Torque is different deppending on the lube you use on the studs. Instructions in stud kit. Sequence is the same.

Most tq them about 10lbft over stock with f/i... Same tq sequence.

The GM gaskets seal as good or better than cometics and are more forgiving on the cleanliness of the the deck/head... I know there are sevral very high boost/hp setups with stock gaskets. They come in 3 layer or 5 layer if I'm not mistaken.

Are the studs reusable? Do you loktite them to the block? I hope that these heads will be the last ones on this motor, but my history doesn't support that.

Do not lock-tite the studs, they go in until they bottom out hand tight only! As far as I know ARP studs are reusable and do not use the stock Torque-to-yield method. The instruction in the stud box say that you torque them to 23ftlbs - I question this! What has everyone on this sight torqued theirs too?
