Default NEW to FI, got some questions

im going to be running a powerdyne supercharger with a custom intercooler set up. i was looking around the radiator area and i think if i move the radiator back a 1/2". then move the ac radiator forward to the hood latch bracket. if i can do this i think i can mount my huge RV trans cooler in between the two radiators. this will then open up the area infront for my 3" thick intercooler. there will be atleast a 1/2 inch between each peice. do you think this setup would be good enough?

also i will have to mount my MAF somewhere. it goes after the intercooler air right? how far from my throttle body?

i was planning on getting some gauges for my truck but not sure what i need to monitor with FI. i was thinking boost, and a wide band. is there anything else i should get too? also would this wideband fit my needs? i plan on getting some tuning software down the road for my lap top. item # 270132964458

thats all for right now, im sure i will have more questions as i get closer to installing it.

thanks

MAF has to be after the intercooler - yes.
I put a 90 degree silicone coupler on my throttlebody and the MAF on the other side of it.
As for gauges, I run an AEM Wideband, Autometer mechanical boost gauge, and an Autometer electronic fuel pressure gauge.

I have an 03 so i think I might have a bit more room in my grill, but I mounted my intercooler in my grill with enough room to put the tranny cooler between the intercooler and rad.

You will want a fuel pressure gauge for sure to make sure your not running out of injector, also you might want to try and mount the intercooler like the prochargers which is horizontally in place of your skid plate with a little air dam to force air into it.just an idea for you.

I'm running a turbo as opposed to a super and my intercooler is A2A instead of A2W, but the set-up you are talking about may not be the best. I am set up the same way (having all the coolers stacked in front) and am having issues with my trans cooler not getting enough air to be efficient since it is stacked behind everything. It might be better to mount either your IC or trans cooler down low so that it can get good airflow and not have everything stacked on top of each other fighting for cooler air.

As far as gauges go, I would recommend you get an Aeroforce Interceptor Gauge to go with boost and wideband. It monitors everything to include IAT's, Trans temp, HP, KR...check out their website. www.aeroforcetech.com A must have and I think there is a pair of them for sale in the classifieds.

thanks for all the imput. im tring to run all my radiators up high and well protected because i take my truck to the sand dunes and ive come close to ripping off my facia. i would had to have a trans cooler or a intercoler there and have it get damaged thats why i wanted everything up by my radiator

my intercooler is a A2A too. do you think that would give enough air flow by doing it the way the procharge guys do it?

thanks for all the imput keep it coming.

I haven't heard of any cooling problems with the IC mounted down there but I can see where you would be worried about it being vulnerable.

Here is how I have mine mounted and it works great. It hasn't caused any rise in water temps either and it would be protected if you did go off road. What are the dimensions of your trans cooler? If it is small enough, you could still mount it below this and have enough protection from the dunes.

trans cooler is 23x8x1.5 its a big bitch.

i got the intercooler installed behind the grill. its got rough mounted right now. i got to find a place for the trans cooler now.

im thinking i might be able to tuck it up where people put intercoolers and have it hidden behind the bumper. then take and make a scoop from the front facia to direct air to it. the only problem i see is i was hoping to run the factory plastic skid plate but it might block air from being able to flow out.

The I/C needs to be the first thing to see the air. It won't hurt the A/C or the radiator to have the air warmed a little by the I/C. But the air coming off of the condenser is very warm, and even with the A/C off, the condenser will substantially block airflow.
