NOPE!! A2A is more efficient overall.

A2W can work better when utilizing chilled/ice water, but once it thermally stabilizes, you'd be better off with A2A.

Drag racing = A2W

Road Racing = A2A

On another note you cant cool tranny fluid with an Air to Air.. What air is flowing through the transmission?? Its effectively an Air to Water.. or Air to TransFluid cooler..

Yeah I should've said water to water and water to air (or fluid or whatever meaningless technicality we want to use). But you think Air to air has higher efficiency? Then why do people use air to water instead to get temps cooler?

And no need to get all excited, dude. "NOPE!!!" LOL! Easy. It's just a message board. I passed on the same info that I've found searching and from talking to turbo guys. Relax.

What are the specs of the test vehicle? Like myself, I'm running with e-fans, hypertech 160 stat, etc.

Ok but he forgot to tell everyone I charge him double the price. So that make two doubles in one day, sweet. LOL
Seriously, the cooler just needs to be flipped to work on the other side.

Test truck is a 2000 rcsb with the 5.3. Trick electric fans installed. WE have done a pretty good amount of dynoing while in stock trim, from pure stock, to oils/filters, and with electric fans.
Started to finish and start dynoing turbo stuff, large downpipe etc, and had a good surge in sell so the truck is being used for mock ups in the intercooler department.
Now I think we have caught up so back to turbo test etc.

Hey Rick, how much can the core support? Looks decent sized... Any plans to augment this with a 1200hp capable core?

I will need to know the PRESSURE @ that power level, the engine size to determine the air flow numbers. The current core could handle the air flow, But I feel the pressure drop would be larger then acceptable.
The system is spec'd to be
750 1/4 mile
550 ALL DAY LONG

ADD ICE and those numbers go way up.

Rick

41sq. inches of flow area.
