Hmmm, so this is too small a blower for a 403? Maybe I should do a 383 instead? I can get a new aluminum block for cheap. What do you think, guys?

I was told by my local shop that this one would be OK on the 403. How do you get the calculation?

P/R(pulley ratio) x blower size
---------------------------------- x14.7-14.7= approximate boost.
1/2 engine displacement

P/R is pulley ratio, which in your case would be 7.5 crank and 2.8 blower. 3.3 is half of what you 403/6.6L motor. So....

2.68 x 1.9l
----------- x14.7-14.7 = 7.98psi
3.3l

But with headers and cam, you probable won't see all that 8 psi on a 403 and that's maxing that blower with a 2.8 pulley.

On a 383, you'd be a about 9.2psi before losses.

Is the 1900 too small for even a 383 then? It seems like it'll be working too hard even still...

I'm thinking so now. A set of heads, LT's and the Maggie on my 5.3 for now. We'll see how that goes. It should be good on gas, too.

You need a rear drive 2300 for that motor. The 1900 will work fine on 5.3 though.

I will just throw in my 2 cents...

....I plan to use my tvs1900 on my 408, but I only expect 5-6 pounds of boost. Most guys say go to a 2300, but personally I would throw on a snail before the bigger blower.

IMO, if you want a good, fun daily driver with that supercharger, I go with a 5.7-6.0L, build it with about 10-10.5 compression. Run a 2.8 pulley, tune it for about 575rwhp on a safe 91 octane tune and just drive it.
