Msd 2 step
#1
I recently bought a 2000 gmc sierra that has a msd 2 step installed non boosted application.
What little i look at the 2 step.i see that the harness ties to both sets of coil packs. Driver and passenger. And 2 other wires for power and ground maybe.
i just had a couple questions:
What internally is happening for the result of the launch rpm setting? Adjusting when cylinders spark by adjusting timming (retard)? Or removing spark all together so motor runs on less cylinders? Is the msd unit smart enough to rotate which cylinders get adjusted or is the same set of cylinders every time?
Next question is vague or can get alot of different opinions.
How can i be hurting the motor using the 2 step?
its cam only 6.0. No turbos to boost up. Unit would more or less be a rpm setting for launching. I assume i set a couple hundred below the stall.
truck is used for a weekend cruiser. Light to light racing. Very rare to go to a track or a racing event.
thank you
