Default Monitoring IAT's on a Maggie

I've been poking around here trying to learn from you guys for my upcomming S/C install.....lots of good info thanks. I'm putting in a Stillen kit on my Titan that uses a 5th gen radix style MP112. I hear you guys talk about monitoring IAT's over 6psi of boost, where do you monitor this? Is there a new guage/sensor you install downstream of the intercooler or do you simply data log from the stock IAT sensor location?

Thanks,

The Radix kits for GM trucks comes with a new IAT sensor that mounts in the upper half of the intake manifold. Not sure if the Stillen kit is the same....

Kewl beans.....I assume you didn't fry anything @ 9psi? Did you find the 5.3 pulled better up top with the maggie. I hear on a 6.0L MP112 starts to run out of steam. maybe my 5.6 will be ok. Sorry for all of the questions

The MP112 had plenty left for the 5.3. I was running a 3.0" pulley to get 9 psi, and with meth/water injection I could keep my IAT's relatively low. On the 6.0L I had to run a 2.8" pulley, and even with meth/water my IAT's were sky high. Neither motor had a problem handling the boost....I was tuned for 11.5:1 AFR at WOT and was running about 20 or 21* of timing.

Hey Thunder, when you were running the 3.0 pulley for 9 psi did you re-tune or keep the original Radix tune? Were you able to use the same belt?

A retune and a shorter belt were both necessary. I went from a 3.4" pulley to a 3.0".

Hey Thunder....What do you most folks consider acceptable IAT's? Is there a magic number to most try to stay under or does it all depend on the motor/application being blown?

It depends...I saw IAT's as high as 180* with the Radix, but compensated by pulling timing in the tune.
